Hurricane Gustav in Louisiana
I am sure you all know that we have experienced a very powerful hurricane in Louisiana. Jerry and I evacuated our home in LaPlace and came to Baton Rouge. We thought this would be a safe place. Well Gustav surprised all of us and Baton Rouge was right in the path of the storm. Our family is safe, but we all are experiencing a rough time right now. There is no electricity, long lines at the gas stations and the FEMA lines are long to get ice, water, and MRE"S. Traffic is really bad and people are getting weary. My son Scott went to Lafayette, LA and got us some supplies including a generator and a couple of small air-conditioners that helps a little. We can now make coffee, watch a little TV with rabbits ears and cook a hot meal. Kelly and I also took Margaret to Lafayette where she is staying with Kyle's parents - they have electricity. We stopped at a WalMart and bought some food and supplies since we had throw away all the food we had in the refrigerators and freezers. Of course I am accustomed to this, but there are a lot of people who are not.
One thing I know is that God is definitely watching over us and he did during the storm. We were sitting down eating lunch when a large tree approximately 80' tall fell and hit the house on the garage side. Did a lot of damage to the garage area and my car. But we were not injured. That is all that matters.
Please continue to pray for us here.
Love
Jerry and Roz Hutson
